  • Build it and they will come?

If you're talking about a website, it's not likely! Build it, keep it fresh, and tell the world.  That's the way you get traffic to your website.  And you can do it in as little as 15 minutes a week.

Blogger Spotlight – Libby Spears

Blogger, Google's free blogging platform, is often thought of as a playground for hobbyists who are "just having fun."  However, Blogger's rich feature set makes it an attractive, user-friendly alternative for professionals wanting to get their website up and running with no muss or fuss. Today we're taking a look at one such professional doing just that.

Libby Spears, a professional speaker and the owner of Bravo Communication and Consulting, uses Blogger as the stage from which she addresses the internet with her website http://www.bravocc.com.

She had used Blogger as her blogging platform for several years and had a separate website as her online home. But in January 2013, when a hosting crisis took her website down during the middle of a fundraiser, she quickly redirected her domain, bravocc.com, to Blogger and was back online in almost no time at all.

"In a crunch, it was a practical solution to our problem," Libby said. "It's so easy."

Along the way, she also learned a thing or two in the quick transfer to Blogger and is glad she did.

"It's worth the time to invest in learning about these things."

Eventually she does plan to move her primary website to a more flexible hosting platform at some point in time but she will keep her professional blog on Blogger's service.

Based out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Libby has been a full-time professional speaker, educator, and entertainer for nine years. She began her career as an instructor at North Texas University and Texas Christian University before going out on her own with Bravo Communication and Consulting in 2006.

Drawing on her educational background in communication studies and her personal experiences, she developed a series of programs to help people with public speaking, storytelling, marketing/branding, interpersonal skills development, management, and leadership.

Her program to help people with their Powerpoint presentations, "Powerpoint is a Backup Dancer," came about when she realized that most Powerpoint presentations are bad simply because people aren't sure what to do instead.

Check out Libby, and her Blogger-based website, at www.BravoCC.com. She includes videos of her at work and even her slide deck for "Powerpoint is a Backup Dancer."
